We want to introduce the work we did during April to make our place even more convenient and comfortable for guests! We have listened to all your comments so we thank you and are proud to introduce this to you.

The works include:

  1. Soundproof the windows facing the road

We have added double glazing as a secondary glazing in rooms 1 and 4, resulting now in three panes of glass from the street. You can feel coccooned and safe while being in the heart of London!
  2. Soundproof neighbouring rooms

We have also added top soundproofing between rooms 4 and 5, while maintaining a classic aesthetic
  3. New beds with under-bed storage for suitcases in smaller rooms

Please watch our YouTube video for how this might work! In the smaller rooms of 2 and 5, we have added beds with storage underneath so you can store your bags and manage your stuff in, and have more space in your room
  4. Artworks in hallways

We have put some nice posters from the London Transport Museum in our hallways, to give you some travel ideas in London and add some nice visuals while walking up and down the stairs.
  5. New softer pillows

It took us some time but we have finally sourced pillows that we are happy with, and hope you are too. They are from Soak & Sleep and they are truly excellent pillows. We will refresh them during the next yearly renovation period.
  6. Electronic room door handles for your room and front door (your code is the last 4 digits of your number)

We have decided to up our security and convenience by introducing electronic door locks for every door (same as how the front door was before, so you don't need to learn another method). This means you need to remember only one code for all rooms, and it is easy to remember as it is the last 4 digits of your phone number, and you can now lock your bathroom with peace of mind that it is private to those rooms that are supposed to have it.
  7. Hand towels

We have now decided to include hand towels for every visit. We have added two extra washing machines as we couldn't handle the load before, but now that we have the capacity we would like to include hand towels in the shared bathrooms which get changed daily, and also a personal one in your room.
  8. Auto off lights on stairways

Lots of guests have complained about lights being left on and you can see it especially if your room is blacked out (thanks to the black-out curtains). Thankfully we have solved this by adding a smart switch that switches off the lights after five minutes of being on.
  9. Added video guide

We have added video guides so that it is much easier for you to understand how the house works. We have also worked hard to streamline the messaging as some of you felt it was too much text. We will continue working on this!

We have also taken brand new pictures, so you can see the change already.

These are only the major changes, of course everything was repaired, room 6 had a small makeover, we added icons rather than English labels to explain where everything is for our international guests, and many more little things.

We are planning on renovating every February, so we will unfortunately close down for this month. Future renovations plans are to:

  • Feb 25: knocking down the chimney breast in rooms 2 and 5 to increase space
  • Feb 26: put secondary glazing in room 3 to the same double glazed standards as in room 1 and 4; add a heater in the patio
  • Feb 27: adding soundproofing between the hallway and rooms 1 and 2; replaster; repaint
  • Feb 28: replace all flooring incl. stairs with luxury vinyl planks, adding soundproofing between floors
